Pueblo Holidays Holiday Rentals, Benalmadena

Location / The Local Area

The Costa del Sol is situated in the far south of Spain, in the region of Andalucia, with views to the African coastline.

On the above picture, Malaga is behind the hill to the left, and Benalmádena pueblo is on the right at the foot of the hills.  The rock of Gibraltar is also visible to the naked eye on the coastline on the right (west) side, but is not picked up by the camera due to the bright sunshine.

The village of Benalmádena is set back from the coast by approx. 1.5 km. There is a road directly to the beaches which is about a 25 min walk. This is all downhill, and so the return journey uphill does take a little longer.  There is always the option of taking a taxi back to the village for a few euros.

Set only slightly inland, and easily accessible, there are various mountain ranges with small picturesque villages.

Benalmadena is a popular area which lies between the cosmopolitan resorts of Fuengirola and Torremolinos.  The area consists of the busy tourist destination of 'Benalmadena Costa', (The beaches), the mainly residential area of Arroyo de la Miel, and 'Benalmadena Pueblo', (the original village), which lies approximately 1.5 km from the coast.

Along the coast there are hotels and an attractive harbour and marina, and the area offers all the facilities (including a casino) you would expect from an established resort.  The area in between the coast and the village is largely made up of private villas and small developments, and also includes the well known Torrequebrada golf course.

North of the village is undeveloped, and is mountainous terrain.  It offers excellent hill walking, and there is even a telecabin to take you to one of the summits to enjoy the spectacular views.
South of the village a small lane runs through an area consisting of villas followed by a public  'green zone' park, and a walk of 25 mins (all downhill) will bring you to the beach.

The village itself has exceptionally easy access from the motorway which runs between Malaga and Marbella, and on to Cadiz.  This convenience makes it the ideal base for exploring the Costa del Sol and all of it's attractions.  Malaga airport is only 10 minutes drive, while in the other direction you can be in Marbella in less than 30 minutes, and Gibraltar in just over 1 hour.
